Tips and Tricks for Buying the Right Cruiser Motorcycle
Buying a motorcycle is a lot more work than people realize. There can be quite a few differences based on make, model, and manufacturer—not to mention they’re also separated by type! If you’ve decided to purchase a cruiser motorcycle but still need a few buyers tips, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together some great advice to keep in mind as you browse the motorcycles at our dealership in Lewis Center, Ohio.
Budget
Before you go anywhere near a dealership you’ll want to set a budget for your upcoming motorcycle purchase. If you don’t, you may fall in love with a model too far out of your price range and walk off the lot with buyer’s remorse or worse, quite a bit of debt. We encourage you to save up for your bike by setting monthly sales goals, getting rid of excess expenses, and setting up automatic money transfers between your checking and savings accounts. If money is a bit tight you can always look at some of the wonderful used cruisers that are on the lot, or even finance your purchase. However, remember that you’ll need to set a monthly budget for your loan payments to keep yourself out of that mountain of debt we mentioned before.
Customization
Before you start looking at cruisers we encourage you to do a little research on motorcycle customizations. A cruiser's bulky frame and vintage style have made it one of the most popular motorcycles to customize. This means there are a hundred different accessories, gadgets, and features you could equip your bike with. In some cases it might even be cheaper to buy a motorcycle without some of the fancier bells and whistles and put them on yourself.
Test Drive
If you’ve found a motorcycle you like, we encourage you to make an appointment for a test drive. Cruisers are well known for being big bikes due to their heavy frames and large engines. If you’re on the smaller side you may find that some of the larger cruiser models are too difficult to turn, or sit too low for you to see well. If you’re an inexperienced rider you’ll want to pay close attention to the engine specs. If the engine is too overpowered for your experience level you may find your vehicle slipping out of your control, resulting in an accident.
